The Windows registry is a complex filing system where your computer stores all sorts of preference and settings files and folders.  The registry is a very important and integral part of your comptuer, and if it’s not running right or it’s cluttered or corrupted, then it’s going to reflect in the proper performance of your computer.

The registry contains user profiles for the users on your computer, data about ports being used, applications that are installed, different settings that you have selected, and more.

Over time the registry can begin to get cluttered with excess files and folders that are no longer necessary.  This can begin to bog down your computer quite a bit.  If you’re looking to clean up the mess, then getting a registry cleaner is probably your best bet.

There are many different registry cleaner reviews out there, and we have gone to the trouble of selecting several of the top programs to write up.  This should help you get handle on learning what different software tools are out there, what you should look for, and more.

It’s not recommended that you attempt to manually clean out the registry by deleting entries on your own.  This could lead to potential problems down the road because you might inadvertantly delete a very important entry.  We suggest looking into getting the best registry cleaner you can find.  We liked RegCure quite a bit, and found it to be quite helpful in terms of quickly and easily clearing registry entries from our test computer.
