Then, they try and fix it. Many support consultants answer questions by e-mail or over the phone. Others also help folk face-to-face. To reply to a problem over the phone, the consultant takes the person through the necessary steps to fix the problem using their own PC. PC support experts also install software, printers and computer memory. Then, they instruct them on the way to employ them. Sometimes, they write instruction books. Some experts check PC systems every day to be sure they are working as they should. To be good at these jobs, workers need to be good at answering problems as well as a good listener. PC consultants may work for the company that makes the PC software or for the place that uses certain computer software, for example a university. They may help other workers at the company or the customers of that company. They also might be surveyed by the maker of the software for feedback on negative or positive aspects about the product, since they work with it daily. Most PC experts work in computer laboratories or offices. They spend a long time sitting in front of PCs. This can strain their eyes, back and wrists. PC specialists routinely work a 40-hour work week, but that may include being “on call” by telephone when they aren’t on their shift. Some experts work at night or on weekends. How does one get ready? There are lots of techniques to become a computer support expert. Having a degree might make it easier to get employment. A few individuals earn an associate degree. Some employers prefer to hire folks who earn a BS. Passing a certification test is an alternate way to prepare for roles. PC firms and associations offer these tests. Experience working with PCs is also crucial. Workers need to learn current PC skills thru their careers due to ever changing technology. If you’re inquisitive about this job, you can get prepared now by studying about computers on your own, at college, or the library.
