Crystal Reports and CRD
The ChristianSteven Company is world renowned as a premier developer of business software. One of their most popular programs, CRD, is used to schedule Crystal Reports. CRD allows office staff to set up a schedule for reports and ensures those reports will be completed and sent to their proper destinations on time. This is done without wasting man hours managing and completing the report generation process. The CRD operator simply selects how often the reports are to be exported(hourly, weekly, etc…), chooses a format(such as Word, Excel, Acrobat, etc…), and selects the recipients and destinations (e-mail, printer, FTP, etc…). According to the CRD website, customers just set it up and forget it.
Adding to its appeal, CRD offers a wide variety of schedule types to choose from. To schedule Crystal Reports as a “Single Report”, the user would simply choose a specific time or interval, export the report in a specified format, then choose the destinations. The CRD “Package Reports” can include many different documents and can be sent with each separate report attached or merged all into one file. They can be delivered as one unit and to more than one destination if needed.
To schedule Crystal Reports when needing to generate several instances of the same report but for a number of different clients, the customer would use the “Dynamic Scheduler”. CRD customizes the information to match the appropriate recipient, so if a user needed the same report for five different clients, the information could be exported without repeating the scheduling command five times. Each client would receive the same report, but with their specific information.
“Bursting Schedules” allows companies to schedule Crystal Reports and break them up based on departments or specific groups. For example, if a user was sending out a monthly profit and loss statement, and wanted to break that down from the overall company totals to each specific department, this scheduler could accomplish that. The operator could even set it up so the different department reports were e-mailed to the corresponding department heads. These are only a few of the helpful tools offered through CRD.
