As Internet Connection at Home Becomes a Pain
I hated how I always get disconnected from the internet at home. I don’t even know if the router is the problem or was it our connection from our provider. When we first bought a router, I was so excited that I could use my new laptop’s Wi-Fi and I could surf the net once again. I hoped that the connection won’t be as bad as how our former connection was. We only had dial-up connection before and everything was really slow. Downloads, torrents and even the checking of emails would really test your patience. It was like a minute or two before a page would display and a 5 megabyte file takes an hour and a half to download. That was how it was before and I thought we had passed that problem since we’ll be improving our connection from dial-up to broadband but I was wrong. It was very fast and efficient at the first few weeks we used the new router. I was even the one who fixed it with the wireless setup; a guide I found in the box.
Yes it was fast, until it was used for a few months, it started to slow down and we even put up WEP keys to limit who could only use the connection since we suspect some of our neighbors were enjoying the free access to it. Even after applying a WEP key, it was still slow that I consulted the wireless setup again but there was nothing that could help us get a better connection. The last solution was to call the internet provider and ask for assistance. When they came after 24 hours, they reported the problem and it was not because of our router but it was our modem. It needs to be replaced and they say that it is normal to replace the modem once in a while. Since we don’t know anything about it, we just took their word for it and decided to replace the modem with a new one. Thinking of it, I think we need to get the modem replaced once again. I’ve been having the same problems as before; slow downloads and slow page display. I just wish my mom would call the service provider as soon as possible. I’ve been itching to download GTA4.
